Director of Assessing
The Rockland Board of Assessor’s is seeking highly qualified team-oriented candidates for the position of Director of Assessing. The Director of Assessing is responsible for the valuation and taxation of real and personal property within the Town of Rockland in accordance with state requirements.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and minimum five years of experience in assessing real estate taxation preferred which at least three years were in an administrative or supervisory position or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) professional designation or its equivalent.

The Town of Rockland is seeking team oriented and highly motivated candidates for Assistant Treasurer. The Assistant Treasurer, under the direction of the elected Town Treasurer, is responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities in the office including, but not limited to, processing weekly payroll through Harpers Payroll, billing, reconciliation and maintaining payroll records. Must have excellent customer service, multitasking, problem solving and time management skills. Must have experience processing payroll, preferably in Harpers Payroll Software.

Library/Town Hall Custodian
Applications are being accepted for the full time position of Custodian for twenty-five (25) hours per week at the Rockland Memorial Library and up to fifteen (15) hours per week at the Rockland Town Hall and/or coverage for other Town Buildings as needed. Thirty-five hours per week are guaranteed hours.
Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent and a driver’s license. General building maintenance skills and proper cleaning techniques are required. Union position: Grade 1, $20.45/hr. Hours of work will be 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. to start. After training 7:00 a.m. to 3:00p.m. with flexibility. Hours may occasionally include night or weekend coverage. This position includes benefits.

Local Building Inspector- Part Time 19 hours per week
The Town of Rockland Building Department has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Local Inspector who works under the direction of the Building Commissioner. Duties include inspection of buildings under construction to monitor compliance with building code and bylaws. Also, inspects safety and conditions of existing buildings, issues certificates of inspection and stop work orders, reviews plans, maintains associated logs and records and investigates complaints of alleged zoning violations. High school diploma, associate degree in related field preferred, and 5 years’ experience in supervision of building construction or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License is required. Ability to interpret and enforce regulations firmly and impartially, to deal appropriately with public and building community and to read blueprints are required. Must be able to access all areas of building construction sites, to walk long periods of time and to climb, crawl and to lift up to 30 pounds. Experience with computers, Microsoft Suite and preferably online permitting. Must have a valid Massachusetts motor vehicle license. Preference will be given to applicants with Certificate of Local Inspector.
The position is part time 19 hours per week and the hourly wage will be commensurate with experience. Schedule will be set by the Inspector of Buildings/Building Commissioner and, to the extent possible, at mutually convenient times.

The Town of Rockland is seeking experienced and motivated applicants for the Sewer Superintendent position which is under the direction of the Town Elected Board of Sewer Commissioners. The Superintendent is responsible for the planning, budgets, organization, direction, management of the operations and activities for the Towns’ 2.5 MGD, Grade 7 treatment plant, collection and storage system. The sewer plant is managed by Veolia. This position will ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state mandates and regulations as well as exercise direct authority over all plant staff, including outside contractors in accordance with all Town policies and procedures.

The Rockland Teen Center is looking for energetic, responsible, and a reliable staff member to monitor teen activity, interact with teens, facilitate games and activities as well as attend Teen Center events. The purpose of this position is to perform supervisory duties for Rockland Teen Center’s events/activities. This individual will help to set up/breakdown events, supervise (with others) upwards of 60-115 teens per night, work concessions and will perform other duties as needed to assure night/events run safely.
